February 1, 2013 – SML Rotary Club president, Dave English, presents a check for $1500 on behalf of club members to Ms. Karen St.Clair, Director of Volunteers for CASA under the Southern Virginia Child Advocacy Center located in Rocky Mount, Virginia.
The Advocacy Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that facilitates a multidisciplinary approach to the investigation, prosecution, and treatment of child abuse and neglect cases. CASA which is an acronym for Court Appointed Special Advocate provides advocacy services for abused and neglected children who are involved in judicial proceedings.
CASA volunteers investigate cases, submit reports to the court addressing issues of safety, individual and family needs, and permanency, assist Guardians and monitor cases for compliance with court orders. Franklin County CASA’s goal is that every abused and neglected child is appointed a skilled and committed CASA volunteer who will advocate for their best interest during these proceedings.
