The Rotary Club of SML President, Dave English, presents a check to Alise Culbertson, Executive Director of the new Bernard Health Center. The Bernard Health Center, is a part of the Free Clinic of Franklin County.
In 2012, the Free Clinic of Franklin County embarked upon becoming a Rural Health Center under the name Bernard Healthcare Center. Ms. Jeanne Bernard founded the Free Clinic over 20 years ago. The Bernard Healthcare Center, when completed, will serve uninsured adults up to 400% of the federal poverty scale on a sliding scale, accept Medicaid and Medicare adults and. eventually will accept patients with private insurance. The Free Clinic component will remain intact for uninsured people below the poverty guidelines. The Bernard Health Center is tentatively scheduled to open in the fall of 2013.
