On a recent sunny Saturday morning, members of the Rotary Club of Smith Mountain Lake worked to clean debris from a stretch of Booker T. Washington Highway/VA-122 as part of the Virginia Department of Transportation’s Adopt – A – Highway program. Rotarians spent over three hours cleaning debris from the Westlake Cinema area to Harmony School Road. SML Rotary Projects Chair, Roger Henderson, led the group of Rotarians in collecting a wide variety of trash littering both sides of the highway. Thirty full bags of debris were collected and disposed of as a result of this effort.
The Club plans another clean-up of this area in June and welcomes anyone interested to join in the camaraderie. Check our website at smlrotary.com or our Facebook page “Rotary Club of Smith Mountain Lake” for more information.
