The Rotary Club of Smith Mountain Lake hosted a Scholarship Luncheon to honor this year’s scholarship recipients. The committee received a total of 15 applications. Thanks to successful fundraising efforts by the SML Rotary Club, the Scholarship Committee was able to award six scholarships this year.
Each applicant was evaluated based on overall academic achievement, career goals, high school and community activities, work experience, and financial need. Each student received $1,500 towards their tuition for next year. Five of the scholarships were funded by the club’s fundraisers throughout the year, and the sixth, the Dick Kenyon Memorial Scholarship, was donated by two anonymous donors in Dick’s honor.
